Credit Card Claims – Write Off Your Debt
Would you like your credit card debt to be completely written off? Do not confuse this with unfair bank charges or re-claiming
banking ‘fines’.
Proceeding with a full review allows analysis of your agreement for certain breaches of law. If specific breaches are found then
your balance could be cleared, written off or cancelled.
If you have a credit card where the contract was issued before the 1st of April 2007 you will want to know about the
Credit Card Claim service offered through
Grass Roots Financial. Each credit card review will determine whether the credit card agreement is unenforceable.
Credit Cards – What could be claimed?
If a credit card contract or agreement is held to be irredeemably unenforceable then the lender has no legal basis on which to
enforce the contract and pursue for the outstanding balance. In this situation, your legal representative will pursue the lender to write off
the full outstanding balance of the card.
- Claim to cancel the card and clear any outstanding balance on it
- Claim back any charges previously paid
- Claim for interest you have previously paid on any outstanding balances
The credit card claim process is simple and straightforward and its goal is to write off your entire credit card debt
whenever possible. Every case is first underwritten and our partners will not proceed with any credit card review unless they believe there is a
reasonable chance of success.
Enter your details on the enquiry form to the right for a no obligation discussion with a local representative. To
find out more take a look at the Grass Roots credit card claims page.

Review
A Cartel Client Review representative in your local area will introduce you to the claim service and explain how Cartel Client Review
may be able to help you make a claim to write off the balance of your credit card. The representative will ask you for basic details of
your cards and introduce you to other Cartel services that may be relevant to you. Each potential claim will be entered onto our bespoke
IT system by your representative. No payment is required at this stage and you are under no obligation.

Underwriting (Vetting)
Our internal underwriting (vetting) department will assess each of the submitted applications. Where underwriting believe there is a
reasonable chance of success a ‘yes’ decision will be made. Where underwriting believe that a successful claim is unlikely a
‘no’ decision will be made.
-
Instruction
Our representative will meet with you at a time and place of your convenience. It is the representative's job to ensure that you
understand exactly how we work and take you step by step through the paperwork. You decide which products you wish to proceed with.
The cost of a credit card Client Review is £495, discounted to £175 if you are proceeding with another £495 product. Any Review fee paid
is refundable should your case be unsuccessful (subject to Terms and Conditions).
-
Investigation
Our processing team will now contact the lender to obtain your ‘client file’, including the contract / agreement relating to
the credit card. Where the lender does not comply, an offence is committed and our recommended solicitors will use the full power of the
law to obtain this file.
-
Solicitor
With the ‘client file’ in, a further assessment of your case will be made and if the decision is still ‘yes’, a
specialist solicitor will be assigned. Your solicitor will build a case, based around the unenforceability of the contract, looking to write
off the outstanding balance, claim back any charges, and claim for interest and repayments. While we anticipate many cases should be settled
‘outside of court ’, should the need arise to take the lender to court, your solicitor will purchase, at their cost, a legal
expenses insurance policy and obtain expert barrister's opinion where required.
-
Payment
For successful credit card claims, a success fee of 30% of any amount recovered and/or written off by the provider will be payable. You
will receive (where applicable) a cheque for the remaining amount.
